Falcon and the Winter Soldier, the new series from Marvel Studios and Disney +, has brought back the character of Sharon Carter. Emily VanCamp is once again the agent and niece of Peggy Carter (Hayley Atwell) who made her debut in the Marvel Cinematic Universe in Captain America: The Winter Soldier and returned in Captain America: Civil War. The passage of her through the franchise was quite commented, especially after she kissed with Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) and did not appear again in the following installments of the saga. Now, VanCamp has spoken precisely about that romantic moment between her character and the Sentinel of Freedom.
The actress returns to play her character in the Marvel Cinematic Universe in the series ‘Falcon and the Winter Soldier’.
“There was some negativity about that. With Sharon, you always had to try to fit it in and these movies are very big and it’s completely understandable, “says the actress in Variety. The reaction to the kiss from the fans resurfaced after Avengers: Endgame, a film in which Steve Rogers travels back in time to have a life with Peggy Carter, which makes Sharon their niece.
“Getting to see who he has become in this long period of time, regardless of Captain America as we know him, seems very interesting to me. The intrigue for me is seeing who Sharon is now, ”she adds.
Finally, VanCamp has taken with good humor the kiss between her character and Steve Rogers. “I mean, look, you have to laugh. Some of these stories work and some don’t. But, you know, I thought it was an amazing movie. It’s just one of those things, ”she concludes.
The truth is that there were plans to continue the romance between Sharon Carter and Steve Rogers in Avengers: Infinity War, directed by brothers Joe and Anthony Russo. This was revealed by screenwriters Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely. In a draft of the film, the two lived together. However, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige decided that it was not a plot that worked in the franchise.
To continue discovering new details about Sharon Carter, Falcon and the Winter Soldier, a new episode premieres every Friday on Disney +. The fiction, starring Anthony Mackie and Sebastian Stan, takes over from Scarlet Witch and Vision, a series that inaugurated Phase 4 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
