Moon with iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 Pro. We review, scold and show many.
Design: only new colors
Apple introduced four models:
iPhone 13 mini - an adorable and compact baby with a 5.4-inch screen;
iPhone 13 - The most popular smartphone in the line;
iPhone 13 Pro and 13 Pro Max - Flagships with camera focus and up to 120 Hz display.
This time, the iPhone 13 Pro was not clamped compared to the Max version. The cameras are the same. And it’s excellent: last year, only the iPhone 12 Pro Max got matrix stabilization, a large sensor. But many did not need such a healthy and heavy brick; they had to sacrifice the camera and take a comfortable but “trimmed” iPhone 12 Pro. Now you can keep your fingers open and enjoy the best technology in a compact case.
All models are protected from water according to the IP68 standard; Ceramic Shield protective glass is in front of everyone. Several times I firmly fixed the iPhone 13 to the tile from a height of 1-1.5 m, at least henna. The glass is intact. But the scratches started to grow. Until this year, I went with the iPhone 12 Pro: the top is full of annoying scars, were a mystery comes from.
iPhone 13
The back cover is covered with frosted glass, and it will not scratch at all. Starting with the iPhone 11 Pro, I use smartphones without a case (I won’t advise this). Although the leather, exquisite, then beautifully covered with patina, acquires a noble pattern like old leather shoes.
All iPhone 13 models have gotten a little thicker, a little heavier, but you’ll feel it just by direct comparison. A week with the iPhone 13 Pro, and it no longer looks like a bar of steel. Same with the neckline – it’s 20% smaller around the edges, but forget about this fact for a minute. Smartphones are just as convenient to use on the go. The iPhone captivates with its ergonomics, which is not enough for the shovels of Android. This does not apply to the iPhone 13 Pro Max: big, heavy.
iPhone 13 Pro
The vast “barrels” of lenses look convincing. I used to stare at the iPhone 12 Pro in awe; now I laugh. But the protruding camera has increased because this iPhone 13 Pro jumps on the table when typing. Covers solve the problem.
iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 Pro
The new muted sky blue hue of the iPhone 13 Pro fades against the background of the severe predecessors: the blue iPhone 12 Pro and the dark green iPhone 11 Pro (subjectively the most beautiful iPhone). But the iPhone 13, on the contrary, improved: white, black, blue – take any saturated and deep tone everywhere. The matte aluminum frame does not collect prints. The attitude towards the mini-version has not changed at all: a touchingly comfortable smartphone, I do not want to let it go. Although not the most popular model, but for those tortured by «shovels» – a ray of light.
iPhone 13 mini
And don’t think about taking the iPhone 12 mini with you. Even with a discount. I will explain more.
The screen is recognized as the best among smartphones.
I won’t delve into the tons of numbers and tech inside the iPhone 13 screen. All you need to know: Here are gorgeous, juicy, bright displays with accurate color reproduction—one of the best among smartphones and all devices. Too many sweet epithets at once, but there have never been any complaints about iPhone screens. Highest award from DisplayMate experts and 12 backup confirmation records.
But that doesn’t mean the iPhone 12 and 12 Pro screens have turned into a pumpkin. They’re slightly less bright in the usual mode, but they also allow for text to be considered in the sun, support HDR, True Tone, 1200 nits peak brightness, and are suitable for accurate photo and video processing.
The main difference between the displays on the iPhone 13 and 13 mini Pro models (and earlier models) is the ProMotion technology. The iPhone 13 Pro and 13 Pro Max matrix give variable frequency 10-120 Hz instead of 13-60 Hz. With the increase in frequency, the animations seem fluid, and the response is ultra-fast; the smartphone appears to accelerate. Someone notices the effect; someone does not see the difference. I was considered the second type until I went back to the iPhone 12 Pro a month later. “Buggy!” – The first thought. No, it just draws fewer frames. But in 5 minutes, you stop driving, that is, in the smooth animations of iOS.
The frequency is adaptive, and it adapts to the type of content, animation. Herein lies the critical difference from the Android flagships with adaptive frequency: the interface works at 120 Hz, opens the reader, goes to 48 Hz or even at 10 Hz.
There is a slight PWM (low brightness flicker) effect. Characteristic of OLED matrices. I know some people who are still not parting with the iPhone 11: there is an IPS panel. But all the new flagships (not just Apple) coming out of OLED will have to accept. The advantages cover a disadvantage with the head.
Oh yeah. The iPhone 13 still doesn’t have an always-on display on the lock screen. Apple has been on the watch for two years, but not here. We are waiting for the “revolution” in the next generation.
Large productivity margin
Raise your hand; who plays on the iPhone? And who plays “fat” titles like Genshin Impact and Pascal Vager? I ask you to stay. Others may not care about the performance of the Apple A15 Bionic processor for another four years for sure. The professional models differ only in a large amount of RAM. The longer-running programs run in the background; they open faster in fractions of a second.
Players should know that. Games with 120 Hz support are still few. Of the demanding, Pascal Vager, for example. But in a few minutes, the iPhone heats up and dulls. Another five minutes, and the duck falls. Genshin Impact lasts 20 minutes, then history repeats itself. The processor heats up, and the smartphone limits its power. This is what all smartphones do with long charges. Except for the ASUS ROG Phone, Feb 5 with cooler mounted. But there and the design and cooling system has been redesigned for the most demanding games.
