Counter-Strike: Global Offensive
From the end of 2000 and onwards, it was impossible to be in any cybercafé without having Counter-Strike installed. And it is still a reference game almost 20 years later, although it has been renewed over the years. On the one hand, we have its remake, a Counter-Strike: Source that costs 8.19 euros, and a free-to-play version that is the ‘Counter-Strike: Global Offensive’ that concerns us today. It is surprising to see the success of what started as a mod of the superb Half-Life.
This free edition allows you to play all against all, although the players who go to the paid one are paired with other paid players, so those of the free game stay to play with each other. Still, it’s an excellent way to gain experience before you start battling the veterans of one of the games-founded eSports.
Defiance 2050
In this futuristic FPS action MMO set in a post-apocalyptic world, players must join forces in cooperative battles to complete different missions in the main story while acquiring new weapons and pieces of equipment. To guarantee that all players will have the same characteristics, there will not be any content or advantage that is paying.
It is a continuation of the game ‘Defiance’ launched in 2013 without much repercussion. It comes as a first-person shooter with a wholly reimagined universe in which, as the characters progress, they will have more customization options new ways to play. The only pay items are cosmetic items and optional gadgets.
Fortnite Battle Royale
‘Fortnite’ has possibly the most popular Battle Royale you can find, and you can play it for free on all platforms. In addition, as you have the possibility of cross-play with other consoles, you can play without limit with your friends regardless of the game console they have at home.
It must be made clear that the Battle Royale is only one part of Fortnite, although by far the most successful. It is as if it were a game within another game, only that you can access it without having to buy the almost 40 euros that the complete Fortnite costs on its official website. In any case, its Battle Royale with 100 players shooting each other is more than enough to spend hours and hours.
H1Z1: Battle Royale
H1Z1 was once one of the best-known Battle Royale, and before the push of Fortnite and PUBG, it decided to become free to play to continue competing on equal terms. And even though it was one of the promoters of the genre, in the end, it has not managed to break down barriers and become a mass phenomenon as other titles have done in the end.
The game goes beyond the conventions, and a few years ago, it introduced a modality called Auto Royale. In this mode, 30 teams are formed made up of four players who will go in different cars, and it is an end with all in which your team must try to finish with the last car left standing.
Half-life
Half-Life isn’t just one of the best first-person shooters – it’s one of the best games ever. Released in the late ’90s, when players were a bit tired of plot-weak Doom clones, Half-Life revamped the first-person shooter genre. This was the game that propelled Valve into the Steam page.
In Half-Life 2, Freeman faces the strange combination that has taken over Earth 20 years after the resonance cascade on Black Mesa. The game is most notable for its advanced Havok physics engine that allows players to draw objects and push them with the gravity gun. It had advanced graphics, which, although not very realistic, still looked quite natural. Half-Life 2 also had incredibly unique and very detailed environment designs. Although the game is a bit dated, its graphics and audio quality still shine. It’s a shame Half-Life 3 doesn’t exist yet, and some Valve insiders have hinted that the publisher has no plans to expand the series.
Call of duty 2
Call of Duty is probably the most extensive first-person shooter series on Windows and consoles and consists of 13 games. Call of Duty 2 was the second addition to the franchise, and this was the blockbuster that launched the series into the stratosphere. The game regenerates some of the most epic WWII battlefields in Russia, France, and North Africa with realistic graphics and unsurpassed attention to detail. The game is compatible with Windows and macOS platforms, and there is also a version for phones.
Call of Duty: 2 has some of the most exciting campaigns in any COD game due to how it tells the story of WWII from the soldiers’ perspective. The game featured more significant battlefields with a variety of mission objectives for less linear gameplay. At its release, Call of Duty: 2 had a revolutionary game engine that allowed developers to incorporate fantastic weather effects and smoke graphics into the game with dynamic lighting and shadows. Squads of NPCs supporting you throughout the campaigns with real battle talks also helped bring the game to life. With several multiplayer modes to shoot, including tons of weapons and maps, COD2 has everything you can expect from a first-person shooter game.
Overwatch is a relatively new first-person shooter that caused quite a stir in 2016. This is a multiplayer team-based shooter that will be developed shortly with a wide range of hero characters. This is only Blizzard’s second attempt at launching a great game franchise, and the publisher certainly delivered an innovative shooter in Overwatch. The game is available for Windows, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One and retails for $ 59.99.
Overwatch features 6v6 team duels with 24 heroes to choose from who have different roles for offense, defense, support, and tank. Players battle through 14 unique, colorful, and lushly detailed maps with compatible game modes for escort, assault, control, and hybrid assault and escort combination. The game places more emphasis on teamwork and has more strategic depth than most first-person shooters. Although Overwatch might have been a bit light on features at launch, as a new game that will undoubtedly get bigger and better with more free updates adding more maps, game modes, etc. the gaming industry and the publisher further expanded Half-Life with the Opposing Force, Blue Shift, and Decay expansion packs.
Half-Life is an absorbing plot, realistic gameplay, strong narrative, and absolutely no cutscenes with the story played out through scripted sequences. The game, and the rest of its series, star scientist Gordon Freeman, sets out to flee the Black Mesa complex in New Mexico after unleashing an alien invasion of the planet Xen. In addition to shooting the aliens, Freeman also has to deal with the US Marines deployed to clean up the outbreak. Half-Life was a tour de force of game design, and it took home more than 50 Game of the Year awards.
You can buy fps game Half-Life for $ 9.99 on Steam. If you’re planning to purchase some of the game’s expansion packs, check out the GamesDeal offer. The platforms offer exciting discounts for Half-Life packs.
Half-life 2
This long-awaited sequel to Half-Life went through a $ 40 million development phase before Valve was released. Valve didn’t rush through a half-baked sequel and delivered a bigger and better game than the original, with more extensive environments, enemies, and an even more absorbing plot. For many, Half-Life 2 is the best game of all time. It was also the first title for the Valves Steam client. You can add it to Windows from this page.
