The voiceover of Mario Casas starts the official trailer for El Inocente, the new Spanish Netflix series with which the streaming platform promises to sweep its premiere on April 30. The famous Spanish actor, recent winner of his first Goya Award for Best Actor for his work in No Killing, repeats in front of an original title on the streaming platform after El Practicante, although this time in the form of a series. He is accompanied by Aura Garrido, Alexandra Jiménez, José Coronado and a story worth telling.
Adaptation of the homonymous novel by Harlan Coben (Don’t talk to strangers), El Inocente has been created by Oriol Paulo (During the storm, Setback) and has been conceived as a miniseries of only 8 episodes. Along with Paulo, leader of the team, the trio of screenwriters Jordi Vallejo and Guillem Clua complete the trio.
In a new commitment to its own production in Spain after the success of numerous titles such as Midas’s favorites, Sky Rojo or The disorder you leave, the new story that Netflix wants to offer its subscribers the story of Mateo (Casas) and Olivia ( Garrido), a marriage that is forced to have to rebuild their lives for the second time when they believed that everything bad that could happen to them had been left behind.
The couple’s past, and especially Mateo’s, is marked by a terrible event that occurred years ago: a fight in which a man ended up dying. Nine years later and after serving a sentence, Mateo and Olivia are ready to start from scratch. But a call from Olivia’s cell phone while she’s on the road changes everything.
Meanwhile, Lorena (Jiménez), a police investigator who has just debuted in the body, investigates a suicide case that is directly related to Mateo, while Teo Aguilar (Coronado), also related to the investigation, does not hesitate to challenge the protagonist with a question for which he does not know if he has an answer.
Described by its creator, Oriol Paulo, as “a choral and polyhedral thriller full of lights and shadows”, if the protagonists of Coben’s story have something in common, it is that, in one way or another, they all look for a second chance. “The innocent is passionate, shocking, provocative, disturbing, emotional and explosive. I am proud to have worked with Oriol Paulo, Mario Casas and the entire team and I am looking forward to the world being captivated by this police drama”, adds the author about the Netflix adaptation.
