Are you looking forward to seeing Tom Hiddleston again as the Asgardian God Loki? The Disney + and Marvel Studios series is coming this summer and this is all you need to know.
One of the most beloved characters in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) is ready to return to the ring with his own series: Loki (also known as the God of Deception) will land this summer on Disney + with a series full of adventures, fantasy and surprises. After the events of ‘Avengers: Endgame’, ‘Loki’, starring Tom Hiddleston, will tell what happened after the character stole the tesseract in 2012 and escapes to know where.
After the preceding series, ‘Scarlet Witch and Vision’ and the current ‘Falcon and the Winter Soldier’, Marvel’s Phase 4 is fully underway. Could ‘Loki’ be the most surprising of all? We review everything we know about the first season of the series, which features showrunner Michael Waldron, one of the writers of ‘Rick and Morty’. We talk about his connections with the UCM until its release date, its synopsis, its cast and its first images and trailers. Ready to host the franchise’s most popular antihero? Will Thor be prepared to cross the path of his brother again?
Loki ‘, premiere date: When can we see the series?
The truth is that Marvel’s initial plans for ‘Loki’ have not changed much since the project was announced at Comic-Con 2019 until the Covid-19 pandemic turned the calendars upside down. Finally, the series will premiere on June 11, 2021, ready to receive the summer with many surprises. Originally, the series would have coincided with the theatrical release of ‘Doctor Strange: in the multiverse of madness’, so we don’t know if we should expect any details about its plot and connections, too, with the recent’ Scarlet Witch and Vision’.
‘Loki’, synopsis: What is the series about?
The new Disney + series ‘Loki’ will follow the God of Deception through various moments in time. The last time we saw him was in ‘Avengers: Endgame’ staying with the Tesseract and disappearing from his time because, apparently, the Tesseract not only serves to travel through space, but also through time. In one of the first leaked images of the series we could see Loki in the full 70s (we know this thanks to the fact that, in the background, there is a cinema where they premiere ‘Jaws’). What we don’t know yet is what Loki will do, how he will affect human history, and what other characters will appear in the series.
As we have seen in the new images revealed by Marvel Studios, after his escape from the new timeline created in ‘The Avengers’, Loki ends up in a desert place and is arrested by an organization known as the Time Variance Agency (TVA), which stands for ‘Time Variation Agency’. And who are they? It is an agency originating from Marvel comics that is tasked with keeping all timelines in the Multiverse under control. Wow, the different parallel worlds within the UCM are already a reality and ‘Loki’ will explore an important part of them.
Any clues in the comics? Loki has been at Marvel for many, many years, trying to outsmart his enemies (and, many times, his own friends). It is rumored that, as the ‘Young Avengers’ project would be forming, we could see a Loki as a child, so it is not unreasonable for them to take this comic into account:
