The Oscar winner has said her final goodbye and her partner Cher has already said goodbye to her on Twitter.
Olympia Dukakis, winner of an Oscar for Best Supporting Actress for her role in ‘Moonlight Spell’, passed away last Saturday at the age of 89. This was communicated by her brother Apollo hers on Facebook, saying: “After many months of precarious health, she finally rests in peace with her husband Louis hers.” The actress was a golden high school in Hollywood, with roles not only in Milos Forman’s Oscar-winning film, but also in ‘Woman’s Arms’ as the chief of staff and ‘Steel Magnolias’ as Shirley MacLaine’s widowed friend.
Although she had made her film debut in 1964 with ‘Twice a Man’, by Gregory J. Markopoulos, Dukakis reached the general public thanks to ‘Moonlight’, where she gave life to the mother of the protagonist (played by Cher) . That work revalued her cache as an actress, and led her to productions such as Woody Allen’s ‘Powerful Aphrodite’ or Patrick Shean Duncan’s ‘Professor Holland’. But her next big hit was also as a mother, as Rosie in ‘Look Who’s Talking!’ by Amy Heckerling and its two sequels. On television we have seen her in series like ‘Joan of Arc’ and ‘Bored to Death’ or, more recently, in ‘Sex & Violence’ and ‘Forgive Me’.
On Twitter, Cher has said goodbye to the actress saying that she was an “amazing” actress and recalling that she spoke to her just three weeks ago:
